Good news, the production begins!!!
After four years of research and development, we are happy and proud to announce the launch of the production of our first pre-production, which will enable us to begin, from November, the real-life situations of BUDDY, in controlled environments, with its public, especially seniors and children. Indeed, we will start experiments with our partners / integrators, developing dedicated applications, in order to test the use of BUDDY on the field.
These first feedback of uses are essential to validate the last details of the robot (easy-to-use control, design, robustness ...) but also ergonomics through these scenarios. Thus, we will check the regular use of BUDDY by these users, evaluate the ease or not of the handling of BUDDY and his applications and detect any bugs before launching on a larger scale. This pre-production, which is now produced in limited quantities, is carried out with the objective to optimize the production efficiency. This step will also allow us to work with developer partners who can enrich BUDDY with applications or exclusive features.
We are convinced that these steps of scenario with professionals partners are structuring and useful to prepare the arrival of your BUDDY and his public launch. We understand very well that some of you will be frustrated to have to wait for the feedback of these experimentation phases, but again, the final goal is to optimize the final quality of your robot. But we are finally there, the manufacturing begins
We are launching an offer called "BUDDY Pro", opened to professional partners, including the robot, the SDK (development tools) and the development of customized applications.
Here are some examples of what we have been working on since our last update:
- Regarding the BUDDY perception technology, we have completed the integration of the "human detection" module so that BUDDY can detect people around him and engage with a specific user, known or not, in different situations.
- We are currently working on upgrading the telepresence technology which includes both the access security to the service and the sizing of the platform to manage scalability. This technology will be useful for the security of the home, the removal of doubt in case of alarm but also for the social link allowing to interact remotely with family members by making a mobile and playful video call. Indeed, the telepresence allows to take remote control of the robot via your smartphone, to see through BUDDY’s cameras and to display the face of the caller on his screen, all in a completely secure and controlled way.
For example, I leave my home, there is no one left. I ask BUDDY to go into Guardian mode. BUDDY will then send me an alert as soon as he detects an abnormal situation (an intrusion, an abnormal heat ...) while I'm away. And, remotely, I can connect to BUDDY and drive him to check what's happening at home, via the application MyBuddyApp on my phone.
We have finished testing the new update of our SDK integrating the new hardware of the robot. The SDK is now operational on the new industrial robot.
BUDDY's news is also his presence in Japan!
BUDDY has been presented for the first time at CEATEC 2018 (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies), one of the largest showcases in Asia for innovations and IoT. It’s “THE” world’s IoT show!
This high-tech event, which took place from October 16th to 19th, brought together the biggest manufacturers, in very varied fields, from the automobile to the home automation through the robotics.
Blue Frog Robotics was one of 4 selected French start-ups (out of 120 startups) by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Japan (METI) via its IoT Lab Global Connection program. The program included meetings with Japanese investors but also China, Taiwan and South Korea.
BUDDY had the honor and pleasure to exchange with the honorable Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Hiroshige SEKO.
